National Parks of Sweden

Swedish National Parks

Sweden is a Scandinavian country and the third-largest country in the European Union. Bordered by Norway on the west, the Baltic Sea and Finland on the east, Sweden is connected by a bridge to Denmark. Northern Sweden extends into the Arctic Circle. Most of the country’s agriculture and its population is found in southern Sweden. Stockholm, which is both Sweden’s largest city and it’s capital, is located in southern Sweden.

Sweden is a leader in the creation of national parks in Europe. Established in 1909, Sweden’s first national park, Sarek National Park, was also Europe’s first national park. With more than 30 national parks, and more in the pipeline, Sweden is practically one big national park.
